11- 14, 2011). The Smart-binder SB-3 is the premier book
finishing solution for high speed digital print operations.
It produces high quality three-side trimmed booklets containing
up to 200 pages and can handle variable-data, personalized
booklet production. The Smart-binder system can be configured
to run in-line with the highest-speed continuous web digital
printers (toner, or ink-jet). Alternatively, Smart-binder
can operate off-line from a high-speed sheet pile feeder (as
being shown at Graph Expo) , or near-line from a roll unwinder
and web cutting system.
The
IBIS Smart-binder is also unique in that it can produce
either saddle-stitched booklets (with wire stitches), or cold
glued booklets (using ISG : Individual Sheet-Gluing). The
ISG gluing process produces a higher quality bind compared
with wire stitching and permits the Smart-binder to continuously
vary page-count without any operator intervention.
The
Smart-binder SB-3 may be easily upgraded to model SB-4
in order to produce perfect-bound books and saddle-bound
booklets from one single, integrated system. Alternatively,
IBIS's in-line IBIS PB-600 system is available if only
perfect-bound books are required.
Smart-binders
are widely-used for insurance policy booklets, school examination-booklets,
health care booklets, product manuals, and in any application
calling for booklet personalization. The

controls booklet assembly using a bar code printed on each
sheet. Assembly of personalized booklets is verified one-hundred
