The Smart-binder models SB-4 and SB-5 include an additional in-line PB-1500W 'perfect-binder' which enables the system to produce either saddle-bound booklets up to 10mm thick or perfect-bound books up to 70m thick, using either hot-melt or PUR glue.

If perfect bound books are needed then the sheets are collected into folded ‘signatures’, typically containing 16 – 28 pages, which may be ISG cold glued on the spine fold. These signatures are delivered to the inline perfect binder and optional book trimmer.
